Fajr filmfest to pay tribute to Nasirian, Samadi
“Ali Nasirian is one of the pioneer thespians, whose efforts flourished acting in Iranian cinema. He is also an expert in dramatic arts and the author and translator of several valuable books,” the Farabi Cinematic Foundation, the main organizer of the festival, said in a press release issued on Wednesday.
Born in 1934, Nasirian began studying in the school of the Barbad Theater Society in 1950 and continued his education at the Sa’di Theater School and the Casting School until 1953.
He began his career in theater with the National Art Troupe, led at the time by Shahin Sarkisian, and then collaborated with the Sangalaj Theater.
His debut film was “The Boor” (1959).
He then appeared in the teleplay “The Cow”, which led to a role in the feature-length “The Cow” (1969), Dariush Mehrjuii’s masterpiece adapted from Gholam-Hossein Sa’edi’s play.
Nasirian’s other credits include “The Postman”, “The Custodian”, “The Cycle”, “Stone Lion”, “Frosty Roads”, “Captain Khorshid”, “One Flew over the Cuckoo’s Nest”, and “Iron Island”.
He has also starred in several TV series such as “Sarbedaran” and “Hezar-Dastan”.
About two years ago, the Film Museum of Iran honored the actor and installed a bust of Nasirian at the museum.
The FCF press release also described Samadi’s long career and achievements.
He is one of Iran’s most stylistic directors, whose works feature important factors such as regional culture, coordination with national viewpoints, and respect for local customs through the use of his impressive technical skill, FCF said.
Samadi, 64, began his career as an assistant director in 1971 and made his debut in 1983 with “The Man Who Knew More”.
His other credits include “Bus”, “Savalan”, “Two and a Half People”, “Miracle of Smile”, “Domrol”, “Sarai”, and “Devilish Acts”.
