KERMANSHAH -- President Mahmud Ahmadinejad said here on Thursday that some great powers are opposing the “progress of Iran.”

“Today, the enemies of humanity envy and oppose the progress of Iran, and the United States and some other great powers want to monopolize science, technology, the world’s resources, and also political and cultural opportunities in order to dominate other nations,” the president told well-wisher in Dalahu, Kermanshah Province.

“The great powers imposed war against us in order to prevent our progress, and today they are using the nuclear issue as a pretext to block the development of Iran in different sciences because they know the development of Iran means a move by all nations and a consequent abolishment of oppression and injustice of corrupt powers in the entire world.”

Mahmud Ahmadinejad also vowed on Thursday to present a bill to the Majlis proposing the establishment of a free economic zone in Islamabad-Gharb, Kermanshah Province.

He called on the Majlis representatives to support the government in passing budgets for infrastructure projects.

“The people have proved that they are vigilant and united and work together for the development of Iran,” he told the people in Islamabad-Gharb.

“If today we are free and independent it is because the dear people of Islamabad-Gharb resisted the enemies in the most difficult situations.”

Pointing to the importance of justice in society, the president said, “Without justice, talent will wither on the vine and different parts of the country will not find the opportunity to develop.”

West and south Iran suffered greatly for eight years as the toppled Saddam Hussein regime attacked Iran in 1980 with the green light of some great powers. Meanwhile the president announced that on the anniversary of the victory of the Islamic Revolution, the “world will recognize Iran as a country with full mastery of nuclear technology.”

Iran has already planned to celebrate its mastery of nuclear technology on the “Ten-Day Dawn Celebrations” which marks the victory of the Islamic Revolution in 1979. The date runs from February 1 to February 11.

After 18 years since the end of the Iraqi imposed war against Iran, there is still a serious question for all conscientious people across the world that why some Western countries will not stop animosity against Iran, President Mahmud Ahmadinejad said, referring to the 1980-88 Iraqi imposed war against Iran.

Some Western countries including the Untied States supported Saddam Hussein in his war against Iran.

“Why have all robbers, plunderers, and aggressors been mobilized against the Iranian nation?” Ahmadinejad told the enthusiastic people of Sar-e-Pole Zahab in western Kermanshah Province who had gathered to greet their beloved president.

At the end of the provincial trip on Thursday night, the cabinet met in Kermanshah and approved more then 100 development plans for the western province.
