Iranian artworks go like hot cakes at Christie's

TEHRAN -- Works by Iranian artists collectively fetched $1.2m at Christie's auction in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates, the Iranian Students News Agency (ISNA) reported on Friday.
Works by prominent artists including Mohammad Ehsaii, Parviz Tanavoli, Farhad Moshiri, Masud Arabshahi, Farah Osuli, and Hossein Khosrojerdi went under hammer at the venue where items worth $13.1m totally were sold.
Ehsaii’s painting entitled “Asma-ul-Husna” (Divine Names) earned $65,000 while Tanavoli’s sculpture “Nil” fetched $78,000.
A painting by Moshiri, expected to go between 18,000 and $24,000, was sold four times its estimated price.
Experts believe that Iranian artworks have set a new record in the world market at the auction.
