Borujerdi meets German MPs in Berlin
Holding talks with his German counterpart Ruprecht Polenz, both sides called for pressing ahead with establishing a nuclear weapons-free zone in the Middle East.
The legislators also discussed the latest developments in the Mideast, especially in Iraq. Polenz said the meeting with Borujerdi focused on ways to convince the world that Iran's nuclear program is indeed only for peaceful purposes.
The German MP who has repeatedly visited the Islamic Republic of Iran, added that several proposals for resolving the Iranian nuclear row were discussed. Meanwhile, Borujerdi also met the deputy head of the Social Democratic Party Faction, Walter Kolbow.
Pointing to the long tradition in German-Iranian ties, the Legislator outlined again Iranian objectives of the nuclear program. He reaffirmed Iranian commitment to Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) and said that the national nuclear program is transparent and under safeguards agreement of the UN specialized Agency, IAEA.
Borujerdi criticized the international community for keeping silent vis-a-vis the Zionist regime which had openly declared possessing nuclear arms.
