Iran Welfare Organization Cooperates With UNICEF

TEHRAN Iran's Welfare Organization (IWO) has a wide ranging cooperation with UN and UNICEF to develop its social welfare centres, the deputy head of the Welfare Organization told the TEHRAN TIMES. With the cooperation of these orgnizations, several projects for children, women rights and education in villages are underway, Mohammadali Talebi added. To provide necessary training to women in many villages in Illam, Sistan and Baluchestan and Khorasan provinces, Iran's Welfare Organization is cooperating with the UN and UNICEF, he said.

Talebi further said, During a Conference on Street Children here, sponsored by Tehran's Municipality, IWO and UNICEF, different issues relating children in the society were discussed. Besides IWO, a number of public organizations like Imam Khomeini Relief Committee, Social Security, Martyrs' Foundation and Mostazafan and Janbazan Foundation, which deal with social welfare, are working actively in this direction, he said. He continued to say that the social welfare system is aimed at evaluating basic human needs and providing them accordingly.
