TEHRAN -- Iran is tipped to join world gasoline exporters in four years, deputy oil minister for human resources vowed in southern port of Bushehr Saturday.

Mansur Mo’azzami talking to MNA added the goal is achieved if gasoline rationing and downward consumption of energy carrier continue.
“In the case of previous consumption trend, gasoline imports would soak up 6 billion dollars per year, forcing the sector to transform the whole crude oil to gasoline and oil derivatives in 20 years,” predicted the official.
He added 500 thousand cars will be equipped with gas-fueled systems by the end of current Iranian year (to end March 19, 2007), adding the figures stood at 200 thousand in the preceding year.
“All seven million cars will have dual-mode system in five years.”
A hybrid vehicle (HV) typically realizes greater fuel economy than conventional internal combustion engine vehicles (ICEVs), such that fewer air pollution emissions are generated per kilometer traveled. In addition noise emissions are reduced, particularly at idling and low operating speeds, in comparison to conventional gasoline or diesel powered engine vehicles.
Iran Khodro Company (IKCO) said last July that it will make hybrid cars aimed at fuel consumption optimization
