ROME (AFP) -- Brazilian international playmaker Kaka has agreed a contract extension that will keep him at AC Milan until 2012, the Gazzetta dello Sport said Saturday.

The player hotly tipped to be named World Player of the Year later this year will reportedly earn nine million euros a season after tax.
According to the newspaper, the top sports journal in Italy, the 25-year-old has agreed terms but is waiting until after the European Footballer of the Year announcement on December 2 in Paris before signing the deal.
He is hotly tipped to win that as well, having starred for Milan in their run to the Champions League title last season.
He has already been named the player of the year by Fifpro, the international players association, and the best player during last season's Champions League.
Kaka is the best-paid player in Italy, earning six million euros a year after tax, but Gazzetta say he will become the best-paid player in the world once his new contract is signed.
His Brazil international teammate Ronaldinho, currently playing for Barcelona in Spain but coveted by many of Europe's leading clubs including Milan and Chelsea, is the highest paid player at the moment earning a reported eight million euros.
Kaka arrived in Milan in 2003 from Sao Paulo and his present deal runs until 2011 but Gazzetta claimed Milan's move is to ward off interest from Real Madrid, who have long tried to entice the attacking midfielder into switching from Italy to Spain.
