PARIS (AFP) - World powers will submit a draft UN Security Council resolution seeking new sanctions over Iran's nuclear program ""in the coming days"", a French diplomat said on Monday.

Foreign ministers of the five permanent Security Council members plus Germany should reach an agreement on a draft resolution to transmit to New York at a key meeting Tuesday in Berlin, the diplomat said.
""A draft of a third resolution is just about ready,"" the diplomat claimed. ""I think we will be able to transmit it to the Security Council in the coming days.""
Washington and its European Union allies have been pushing for a third set of UN sanctions against Iran for refusing to stop uranium enrichment activities.
As a signatory to the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT), Iran has right to uranium enrichment for peaceful purposes.
UN nuclear watchdog chief Mohamed ElBaradei said in a report in early November last year that Iran had been truthful about key aspects of its ""nuclear dossier,"" but noted that Tehran was continuing to work on uranium enrichment.
In a recent visit to Iran ElBaradei called for further expansion of cooperation between Iran and the IAEA to clear up the remaining ambiguities about Tehran’s nuclear activities.
Iran had made progress in the explanation of certain questions concerning its nuclear program, ElBaradei said in Bratislava, capital of Slovakia, on Friday.
China and Russia have been reluctant to back any more punitive measures.
The U.S. administration's own intelligence on Iran has made it difficult to convince Russia and China that Tehran deserves new sanctions.
A National Intelligence Estimate released in early December reported that Iran has no secret nuclear weapons program. The report came as a disgrace for President George W. Bush's and his allies about the nature of Iran’s nuclear program.
