TEHRAN -- Paintings by Uzbek contemporary modernists will be put on display in a two-week exhibition that opens at Tehran’s Saba Art and Cultural Institute on May 5.

The show, which will feature 46 oil paintings, is part of a series highlighting modernist painting in Iran’s northern neighbors which Saba has been holding since 2006.
The organizers of the series hope the program can strengthen relations between Iran’s modernist painters and their counterparts in these neighboring countries.
Over the years, the series has also highlighted works of painters from Turkey, Georgia, Azerbaijan Republic, and Kyrgyzstan.
