TEHRAN -- Homa Alavi claimed the championship in the Iran Under 20 Chess Championship in Zanjan, Iran, on Tuesday and qualified for the 2008 Turkey World Cup Chess Championship.

Hanieh Khalaji and Ghazal Hakimi-Fard came second and third, respectively. Alavi won with 7 points, followed by Khalaji(6/5 points) and Hakimi-Fard(6 points).
Hanieh Khalaji will also take part in the Asian championship as Iran’s second representative. Asian Chess Federation has not yet announced the competitions’ details
