Repsol delays YPF unit flotation: source

MADRID (Reuters) - Repsol has decided to postpone the planned partial flotation of its South American unit YPF, slated for 2008, an industry source said on Monday.

“The flotation has been postponed for this year due to market conditions, I haven’t heard whether a new date has been set though,” the source said.
Repsol agreed to sell up to 25 percent of YPF to Argentine businessman Enrique Eskenazi in a two-stage deal agreed on in 2007, valuing the unit at $15 billion.
The Spanish company, which originally planned to list 20 percent of YPF on the Buenos Aires stock exchange before the end of the year, has said it will provide an official update on the planned listing with its third-quarter results, due in November.
The company has been planning to list part of its Argentine unit since 2006, in an attempt to reduce its exposure to Latin America.
