TEHRAN -- Scholar Ziaeddin Torabi is correcting the Divan of Hafez according to an ancient version of the divan which is preserved in Istanbul, he told MNA reporter.

“The main source for my corrections is a version of the Divan of Hafez which is kept in one of libraries in Istanbul. This version is older than the version that Allameh Qazvini used to correct the divan,” Torabi told MNA.
The Divan of Hafez which was corrected by Allameh Qazvini (1874 – 1949) is known as one of the most authentic versions of the divan in Iran.
He went on to say that this version of Hafez has 50 fewer sonnets than other versions and it does not have some couplets in which Hafez eulogizes characters of his time, so that the sonnets are mainly in the shortest possible form namely seven couplets.
The book will be divided into two sections. The first section is dedicated to Hafez’s sonnets and the second section contains comparisons between different versions of published corrections of Hafez and also some explanations and interpretations of difficult couplets, he said.
He believed that most of corrections which have been published in recent years were from the personal point of view of the redactors.
He will also publish a collection of his poems “Travel of Poem” and “An Introduction to World Resistance Literature” in near future.
