PRAGUE (Xinhua) -- The Czech EU presidency will be a great success, EU foreign policy chief Javier Solana said after meeting with Czech Foreign Minister Karel Schwarzenberg on Friday.

Solana said the Czech Republic would take the rotating EU presidency in the first half of next year, which means the country will represent EU in talks with international organizations and nations out of the bloc.
As a result, he will visit the country more frequently than usual in the period, Solana said.
The Czech presidency will have to deal with the current financial crisis, to establish good relations with the upcoming U.S. government led by Barack Obama and to contribute to the peace in the Balkans, he said.
The Czech Republic is scheduled to take the rotating presidency of the EU from France on Jan. 1, 2009.
