Persepolis beats Abumoslem and moves to 2nd place

TEHRAN – The Persepolis football team defeated Aboumoslem in the 27th week of the Iran Professional League (IPL) here on Tuesday and moved up to second place.

The Tehran-based side defeated Abumoslem 1-0 in front of 30,000 spectators at the Azadi Stadium.
Persepolis went ahead in the 48th minute when captain Karim Bagheri’s shoot from outside of the box was deflected by Abumoslem defender and opened Shahab Gordan’s goal.
In the 55th minute, snappish Gordan angrily threw the ball toward a ball boy. Referee Saeid Mozzafarizadeh sent him off without any hesitation.
Persepolis controlled possession but had trouble penetrating the visitors. The result saw them leap to second place with 47 points six behind leaders Esteghlal
