Envoy highlights Iran, Tajikistan's regional roles

TEHRAN (FNA) - Tehran's Ambassador to Dushanbe Ali Asqar Sherdoust on Sunday highlighted the role of Iran and Tajikistan in expansion of relations among different parts of Asia.

""Iran, as the most important power in the Middle-East, and Tajikistan, as the main axis of the Central Asia could have a significant stake in expansion of relations between South, West and Central Asia,"" Sherdoust said in a conference held in Dushanbe, the capital of Tajikistan.
Sherdoust further said that the two countries' presence in different international bodies, including the United Nation, the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC), Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) and other international organizations, serves the interests of both sides.
The Iranian ambassador also praised the positive position of the Tajik government, people and media on Tehran's stance on international and regional issues as well as Iran's right to use peaceful nuclear energy.
Sherdoust reiterated that Iran has always supported Tajikistan within such international organizations.
""Iran always wants that the Tajik brothers step towards expansion and progress, and such an expansion is not possible without peace,"" the Iranian envoy concluded.
