TEHRAN -- Servants of Construction Party will join former presidential candidate Mir-Hossein Mousavi’s political group, the party spokesman Hossein Mar’ashi said on Wednesday.

The party was one of the first groupings to recommend Mousavi to form such a political front and now welcomes the decision, he told ISNA.
Mousavi has plans to form a political front and he has won the backing of top political figures.
“The front should stand up for the rights of the nation, people’s freedom, and their right to determine their own fate based on the constitution,” Mar’ashi explained.
Mar’ashi added the people have realized that the lack of powerful and inclusive political organizations have decreased the chances for expressing their views.
Surely, if there was such a front the events after the June 12 election would not have happened, he said.
“It seems that the lack of a comprehensive and powerful political organization has turned our golden opportunities into threats,” he observed.
He said the objective of the front is to direct the Islamic Republic toward the “views of Imam Khomeini in which people play a key role and the Islamic laws and regulations are respected.
