Negotiations will do no good for Palestinians: Larijani

TEHRAN – Sitting on the table to negotiate on the decades-old Palestine issue will bring no effective results for Palestinians, Iranian Parliament speaker Ali Larijani said on Tuesday, suggesting that resistance is the only solution.

Many proposals have been suggested and many conferences have been held on the issue but none of them helped resolve the crises facing Palestinians, Larijani said in an address to an international seminar entitled “Gaza, Symbol of Resistance” held in Tehran on Tuesday.
He went on to say that the U.S. has shown there is no way for Palestinians but to resist.
The U.S. blocked efforts to pass a binding resolution at the United Nations Security Council against Israel to stop the war on Gaza, the speaker explained.
There was no talk of human rights abuses during the Gaza war, he said, adding, “Even though the political system had changed in the U.S. and a new president has been elected with the motto of change” but nothing has changed.
The U.S. and its European allies provided weapons to Israel during the war, he noted.
“Israel launched an extremely barbaric attack on the Gazans. It took none of the international norms and regulations into account,” he observed.
The Israeli regime also made use of banned white phosphorous shells on people and destroyed hospitals, mosques, and civilian infrastructure.
It is unfortunate that the U.S. and certain Western powers stood by Tel Aviv during the war despite Israel’s horrific human rights violations, he noted.
He also urged all regional nations to take measures against the continued Israeli actions in occupied Palestine, saying the Middle Eastern people were convinced that the so-called efforts by the U.S. in bringing peace to the region were nothing but a ‘sham’
