Messi is out of the nominees for the Golden Ball

The prestigious magazine France Football announced the three finalists for the Golden Ball, among which is not Lionel Messi, record winner last year.

There will be a representative of South America anyway, Uruguayan Diego Forlan, who won the Best Player award at the World Cup after the fourth place obtained.
The other two candidates are from the old continent: Dutchman Wesley Sneijder, who scored decisive goals for Holland in South Africa, and Spanish Andres Iniesta, most favorite after scoring the decisive goal in the final.
Thus, Leo Messi, who in 2009 won with a record vote in his favor, and then won the FIFA Player of the Year award, will now be relegated after Argentina’s World Cup failure, falling in the quarterfinals 0-4 against Germany.
