TEHRAN – The Majlis and the administration held a joint meeting on Sunday night in an effort to bridge the differences.

The meeting came as the president had said he does not “consider as law” a parliamentary approval on allocating two billion dollars for development of metro in Tehran and other metropolises, a statement which triggered strong reaction from some lawmakers.
President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad asked the parliament to pay more attention to the administration’s stance regarding the implementation of law and called for increased unity between the two branches of government.
Commenting on the subsidy reform plan, the president said the implementation of the plan will be a great achievement for the administration and the Majlis.
Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani also thanked the Ahmadinejad administration and his cabinet for attending the meeting and called the gathering constructive.
He also said that efforts should be made to resolve the differences between the executive and the legislative branches of government.
-----U.S. dreams about Iran will not come true
Ahmadinejad also said the enemies would take into grave the dream of putting the “slightest pressure” on the Iranian nation that has been under sanctions for more than three decades.
Ahmadinejad made the remarks in the joint meeting of administration and Majlis on Sunday night.
The enemies have repeatedly stated that they intend to isolate Iran, but they should know that such efforts will only isolate Iran’s enemies, Ahmadinejad stated.
Ahmadinejad dismissed the recent unilateral sanctions imposed by the European Union. “Do you think that if the Iranian people do not buy European products, anything special might happen?”
He said Iran will turn sanctions into an opportunity and will promote a new economic order in the world.
He went on to say that Iran has established special ties with at least 40 countries to reduce its dependence on banking, insurance, economy, import and export of the capitalist world.
On the United States’ call for talks with Iran, Ahmadinejad said Iran is always ready for talks but it is “you (U.S.) who are afraid of negotiations”.
If the enemies think that Iran will not relinquish its legitimate nuclear rights through propaganda campaigns, they are “totally mistaken”, he said
