SARI – As Iran and the 5+1 group (five permanent members of the Security Council and Germany) are preparing to hold talks next week in Geneva President Ahmadinejad warned Washington and its European allies that they will gain nothing if they persist on their bullying policy toward Tehran.
EU foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton will hold talks with Saeed Jalili, secretary of Iran’s supreme National Security Council and top nuclear negotiator in Geneva on Decemeber 6-7.It will be the first high-level meeting between Iran and the 5+1 group in more than a year. Ashton represents the United States, Russia, China, and Britain, France and Germany (the so-called 5+1 group) in talks with Iran. Officials from the 5+1 group are expected to attend the meeting.
“The Iranian nation will stand up against any misbehavior,” Ahmadinejad told a gathering of elites in the northern province of Mazandaran on Wednesday.
He added, “Now, they say that we want to negotiate with you. We also said we have always been in favor of talks based on logic, law, and justice. But they must be aware that if they want to bully (Iran), the talks will bear no fruit for them. However, we will keep on making progress but they will suffer loss.”
Elsewhere in his remarks, Ahmadinejad stated that Tehran holds the Zionists and permanent members of the UN Security Council responsible for the terrorist attacks against two Iranian nuclear scientists.
In two separate bombings in Tehran on Monday morning a university professor was killed and another one injured.
The two academics were identified as the late Majid Shahriari and Fereydoun Abbasi Davani of the Physics Department of Tehran’s Shahid Beheshti University.
Ahmadinejad went on to say, “Today, Iran is at the center of the world’s attention” and every one is keeping a close eye on the developments in the country
