Ribery relief as injury is not serious

The knee injury Franck Ribery suffered in Bayern Munich's 1-1 draw with Wolfsburg is not as bad as first feared and is set to keep him out for just two weeks.

Ribery lasted just 17 minutes of the Bundesliga match at the VW-Arena before he was forced off. It had been feared the winger may have torn ligaments, but tests carried out in Munich revealed he has only sprained his knee and he could be back in action within a fortnight.
''I am very happy and also relieved,'' Ribery on Bayern's website.
The 27-year-old admitted he had spent a ''sleepless night'' with ''strong pain'' in his knee after returning from Wolfsburg.
Given the diagnosis, Ribery will rest for the next five days before returning to training shortly before next weekend's clash with Kaiserslautern, which he will miss.
He is also likely to miss the DFB-Pokal tie at Alemannia Aachen next week before, should all go according to plan, returning for Bayern's trip to Werder Bremen in the league on January 29.
