Bokhara to pay tribute to Hermann Hesse
TEHRAN -- Bokhara magazine will honor Hermann Hesse during a session on March 5.Hermann Hesse was a German-born Swiss poet, novelist, and painter. In 1946, he received the Nobel Prize in Literature. He is well known in Iran for his “Steppenwolf”, “Siddhartha” and “Gertrud”, each of which explores an individual’s search for authenticity, self-knowledge and spirituality.
The event will be held at the Central Tehran branch of the Islamic Azad University, which can be found on Cinema Iran Av., off Farahzadi Blvd., Sanat Sq., Shahrak-e Gharb.
Iranian scholar compiling encyclopedia on Japanese art
TEHRAN -- Iranian poet and scholar Asgar Pashaii is compiling an encyclopedia on Japanese art.
“The book includes different entries related to various historical periods of Japan,” he told in a press release.
He said that the encyclopedia is based on translation but it includes some compilation sections as well.
Nazar Publications will most likely release the book in the near future.
Iran’s “Oyan” to compete at Tiburon filmfest
TEHRAN -- Iranian short film “Oyan” will go on screen at the Tiburon International Film Festival.
The film, directed by Esmaeil Monsef, recounts the story of a postman and a young woman. She learns the letters she received, assuming they were from her imprisoned husband across the border, were not written by him.
The festival will be held from April 7 to 15 in Tiburon, California.
Tehran museum to showcase Mir-Emad calligraphy
TEHRAN -- The Reza Abbasi Museum will be host to calligraphy exhibition of artworks by Mir-Emad from March 14.
A total of 16 calligraphy artworks will go on display at the museum which is located on Shariati St. in the Seyyed Khandan neighborhood.
Mohammad ibn Seyfi Qazvini (1553-1615) known as Mir-Emad was the titan of the Nastaliq script, a unique and ornate Iranian style of calligraphy.
Persian ensemble to give performances in Tajikistan
TEHRAN -- Iranian Sepid Siah music ensemble will give performances in Tajikistan during the Noruz holiday.
Conducted by Peyman Miraqasi, the ensemble will give performances in Dushanbe for four evenings.
The exact dates of performances were not yet announced.
Iranian vocalist Seddiq Tarif to tour Europe
TEHRAN -- Veteran Iranian vocalist, Seddiq Tarif, accompanied by the Noruz band, will give concerts in European countries.
They will begin their tour on March 15 with concerts in Paris for two evenings. They will continue their performances in Lyon.
Rome, Venice, Milan and Pescara are other cities that will host the concerts. Tarif and his band will also give performances in Switzerland and the Netherlands..
