Ferguson: Winning the Premier League is the priority

Sir Alex Ferguson has conceded that Manchester United's priority is to win the Premier League and overtake Liverpool as the club with the most number to league titles to their name.

The current league leaders are level with Liverpool in terms of the number of times each club has been crowned champions, with 18 triumphs apiece.
And overtaking the Merseyside club at the end of the season would also see the Scot achieve his long held target of knocking United's arch-rivals off their perch.
Having just lost out on the chance to win his second treble of honours following the FA Cup semi-final defeat by neighbours Manchester City, Ferguson is quoted by The Mirror as saying: ""The league is still the first target – it has to be.
""The Newcastle match is more important than the ones we’ve just had. We are well aware we need to win and that will probably be reflected in my selection.""
United play Newcastle at St James' Park on Tuesday.
