TEHRAN – The ruler of Umm al-Quwain, the smallest of the seven emirates comprising the United Arab Emirates, has expressed hope that the relationship between Iran and the UAE would be enhanced.

Shaikh Saud bin Rashid Al Mualla made the remarks during a meeting with Iranian Ambassador to the UAE, Mohammad-Reza Fayyaz.
“The relationship between Iran and Umm al-Quwain is long-standing and friendly, and there is no obstacle in the way of expanding relations,” he said.
Shaikh Saud welcomed the Iranian ambassador’s proposals for economic cooperation and joint investment, saying, “We are ready to examine the plans which are put forward by the Iranian brothers.”
The Iranian ambassador said that the two countries have had historical ties and share cultural and religious affinities, so cooperation between Iran and the UAE should be increased.
Fayyaz enumerated Iran’s industrial and agricultural capabilities and said Iran is willing to cooperate with the UAE in these areas.
