Production line for new munitions opens
Defense Ministry has inaugurated the production line for anti-armor 125 and 105mm projectiles called Saqeb. Attending the ceremony on Saturday, Defense Minister Ahmad Vahidi said the new artillery shells travel 5 times the speed of sound, can penetrate the target by 1.5 meter and are weighty, Vahidi told reporters.
Iran Navy saves Maltese ship from pirate attack
The Iranian Navy has thwarted pirates’ attempts to hijack a Maltese vessel, named Dandle, in the international waters, Deputy Navy Commander Gholamreza Khadem Beighom said on Saturday. The vessel was sailing toward Iran when it was attacked by four pirate speedboats near Omani coasts. This is the tenth clash between pirates and Iranian navy troops over the past two months.
A number of Iranian prisoners to be released in Kuwait
MP Mohammad Karamirad has said Iran and Kuwait signed a number of agreements during a recent visit of Iranian foreign minister to Kuwait. Karamirad said it was decided a number of Iranians, who are imprisoned in Kuwait, to be released. In addition, the joint supreme joint committee will restart its mission in the near future.
Iranian FM to travel to China
Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi is schedule to travel to China in the near future, MP Hossein Sobhaninia told the Mehr News Agency. Sobhaninia, the head of the Iran-China Parliamentary Friendship Group, said Salehi will hold talks with Chinese officials on ways to expand bilateral relations as well as issues of mutual interest
