TEHRAN – Ayatollah Mesbah Yazdi has said that the newly established principlist offshoot, the Islamic Revolution Resistance Front, is not seeking a breakaway from the mainstream principlist faction.

Mesbah Yazdi, a leading member of the Assembly of Experts, also said that the establishment of the Resistance Front does not mean that a rift has opened up among principlists.
The Resistance Front members are former supporters of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad who have distanced themselves from the “current of deviation,” which is allegedly led by Presidential Chief of Staff Esfandiar Rahim-Mashaii.
