TEHRAN – The Iranian deputy foreign minister has said that creating a no fly zone and a buffer zone in Syria is a repetition of past mistake.
Hossein Amir-Abdollahian made the remarks on the sidelines of the annual meeting of the foreign ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in Kuwait on Thursday.Such proposals do not help establish security and stability in the Mideast region, said Amir-Abdollahian, the deputy foreign minister for Arab and African affairs.
Controlling the borders of the countries bordering Syria is essential to settle the crisis in the country “politically”, he stated.
He also stated that an instrumental use of terrorism in the region, specifically in Syria, should be stopped immediately.
Commenting on the continuation of attacks on Saudi Arabia’s attacks on Yemen, the diplomat said “An Islamic Arab country’s attack on another Islamic Arab country is adoption of another wrong approach in the region”.
------Crises in Yemen, Syria solvable only through dialogue ---
During a meeting with Qatari Foreign Minister Khalid Bin Mohammed Al Attiyah in Kuwait on Thursday, Amir-Abdollahian also said that crises in Yemen and Syria can be resolved through “political strategy”.
He also highlighted the importance of more cooperation among the countries in the Mideast region.
The Qatari foreign minister described terrorism as a serious threat and said the security of the regional countries is intertwined and all will suffer if security is undermined.
------Iran ready to send more help to Yemen---------
In a separate meeting with Foreign Minister of Djibouti Mahamoud Ali Youssouf on Friday, Amir-Abdollahian also said Iran is ready to send more humanitarian aid to Yemen.
