TEHRAN -- Mohammad-Mehdi Heidari, the producer of “Muhammad (S), the Messenger of God”, said on Tuesday that the film was made to correct minds plagued with misinformation about the Prophet of Islam in the Western world.
The film, which is about the childhood of the Prophet Muhammad (S), is scheduled to have its Iranian premiere today.
International filmgoers are the target audience of the film, he told the Persian service of FNA.
Due to the target audience, the production team decided to choose a plot about the childhood of the Prophet of Islam for the project, he added.
“Because children are judged to be innocent around the world and the subject has a big chance to ignite moviegoers’ enthusiasm for the film,” Heidari explained.
To produce a film with international standards, Oscar-nominated filmmaker Majid Majidi brought together a team of celebrated movie-industry figures from abroad to make the film.
The three-time Oscar-winning director of photography Vittorio Storaro, Oscar-winning visual effects supervisor Scott E. Anderson, editor Roberto Perpignani, makeup designer Gianetto De Rossi and Indian composer A. R. Rahman collaborated in the production.
Earlier last week, Majidi attended a press conference at the location for “Muhammad (S), the Messenger of God” between Tehran and Qom to announce the date set for the Iranian premiere of the film.
He said that his film shows a proper perception of Islam.
“Muhammad (S), the Messenger of God” will open the 39th Montreal World Film Festival tomorrow. Majidi and some of the main members of his cast and crew will also attend the world premiere of the film at the Canadian festival.
