“Muhammad (S)” director, cinematographer honored at Camerimage

TEHRAN -- The 23rd Camerimage International Film Festival in Poland honored renowned Iranian filmmaker Majid Majidi and Italian cinematographer Vittorio Storaro with the Outstanding Cinematic Duo Award on Friday.
The cineastes received the award for their collaboration on “Muhammad (S), the Messenger of God”, an epic about the childhood of the Prophet of Islam (S), during a special meeting at the Opera Nova Congress Centre in Bydgoszcz.The movie was screened last Wednesday during the festival, which is the greatest and most widely recognized festival dedicated to the art of cinematography.
The film had its world premiere at the 39th Montreal World Film Festival earlier in May.
Majidi directed the film in collaboration with renowned international craftsmen and artists, including editor Roberto Perpignani, special effects designer Scott E. Anderson, makeup designer Gianetto De Rossi and Indian composer A. R. Rahman.
It is Iran’s submission to the Best Foreign Language Film category of the 87th annual Academy Awards.
