TEHRAN – Hodhod English TV, an Iranian children’s satellite channel promoting Shia religion in the world, was officially launched in Qom, southwest of Tehran, on Friday.
Sponsored by the representative of Iraqi religious leader Ayatollah Ali Sistani, the Arabic and Persian version of Hodhod had been launched in 2010 and 2012 respectively, the Persian media reported on Saturday.A number of ulema from Qom Seminary including the representative of Ayatollah Sistani in Iran, Ayatollah Seyyed Javad Shahrestani, and director of Hodhod TV channels Ehsan Helmi attended the ceremony.
Speaking at the ceremony, Helmi praised the efforts made to use modern technology to promote religion in the world.
“We should be aware that the enemy has long begun its widespread destructive campaign against religion, while religions promote mercy and compassion among nations,” he said.
“The world media also threatens to undermine religions and nationalities through their programs, aiming to humiliate all cultures and make people obedient,” he added.
“The media also tries to spread news against Shiism, while Hodhod English TV plans to promote teachings of the household of Prophet Muhammad (S),” he concluded.
