TEHRAN – The “Takhti Cup” freestyle wrestling tournament will be held in Tehran on March 10 and 11, according to the Iran Wrestling Federation. 

 

The winner will pick up $4000 in prize money, while contestants that rank second and third will get $3000 and $1500 respectively.

 

Gholamreza Takhti, who died in 1968, is the most famous wrestler in Iranian history. He claimed the gold medal in Melbourne 1956 Olympic Games and won two silver medals in 1952 Helsinki and 1960 Rome Olympic Games.
