TEHRAN -- The Iranian universal TV network Sahar is preparing a Kurdish-language dub for “Mokhtarnameh”, an Iranian TV series on a Shia uprising during the seventh century.
A number of prominent artists from Tehran and Kordestan Province has been selected for the project, which commenced last week, Sahar reported in press release on Saturday.
“Mokhtarnameh” is about Mokhtar Saqafi, who organized an uprising to take revenge against the killers of Imam Hussein (AS) after the events of Ashura, the 10th of Muharram.
Azizi Abbasi voices Mokhtar in the serial and As’ad Khoshgovar, Hashem Shahveisi, Parviz Habibi, Shilan Rahmani, Nashmil Kakazadeh and several other artists are collaborating in the project.
A team of Kurdish language experts spent Three months translating the dialogues, said voice actors team director Mohammad Fereiduni, who also voices Shemr and Loqman.
“The dubbers are trying to do their best to avoid any reduction in the quality of the highly prominent TV series,” he added.
He said that the team is expected to complete the project late May.
The 40-episode TV series, which was broadcast on IRIB’s Channel 1 last year, has previously been dubbed in Turkish, Azeri, Urdu and several other languages.
