TEHRAN – The 5th Persian International Film Festival, showcasing the best of Iranian cinema and the Persian-speaking world, will be held this September in Sydney.

Founded in 2011, the event aims to screen films by filmmakers from the Persian-speaking countries of Iran, Afghanistan and Tajikistan, the Australian-based Iranian director of the festival, Amin Palangi, announced on the festival’s website.

The organizers also wanted to celebrate this rich cinematic culture with Australian communities through film screenings and master classes during the festival running from September 1 to 4.

Interested filmmakers are asked to submit copies of their films to the secretariat of the festival before July 4.

Amin Palangi is director of several fiction and documentary films. His “Love Marriage in Kabul” was screened in the 34th Fajr International Film Festival.
