Yousef-Khan Castle Registered as National Monument

TEHRAN -- The historical Yousef-Khan Castle, which dates back to Qajar period, has been registered as a national monument. The castle is located in Shamsabad village near the city of Shahr-e Kord. The two-storey castle is located in a big garden and is surrounded by a brick wall. It includes the main entrance gate, a bathroom and four towers. The exact date of the construction of the castle is not known, but it is predicted that it was constructed 90 to 100 years ago.
Yousef Khan was the son of the head of Bakhtiari tribe. He was entitled Etezar ros-Sultan' at the beginning of Mozaffareddin Shah's rule and was given the title Salar-Heshmat' at the end of his rule. After the Constitutional Movement, he was entitled He lived in Shamsabad village during his rule, and the castle was his residence.
