TEHRAN – International Federation of Photographic Art (FIAP) President Riccardo Busi and his colleague Romain Nero opened the 4th Khayyam International Exhibition of Photography at the Iranian Artists Forum in Tehran on Friday.

In his brief speech at the opening ceremony of the showcase, Nero who is a member of FIAP directorate thanked the organizers and those photographers whose works are on display at the exhibition, the Persian service of IRNA reported on Saturday. 

He said that such an event could make an outstanding contribution to the Focus Photo Club, a U.S-based center founded in 1989 for the enjoyment of all photographers.

Ali Samei, the representative of Iran’s branch of FIAP that is the main organizer of the exhibition, gave a report on arrangements for the event.

According to Samei, over 21,000 works by photographers from China, Spain, India, Greece, France and dozens of other countries were sent to the weeklong exhibition that is displaying a careful selection of the photos.

Photographer Saeid Arabzadeh from Iran received Iran’s Focus Photo Club award during the opening ceremony.

The Khayyam exhibit aims to elevate the art of photography and provide facilities for more interaction between Iran and world photographers.

Iran’s Focus Photo Club organizes the exhibition annually with the help of the Photographic Society of America (PSA) and FIAP.

In addition, FIAP opened its official center for exhibitions at the Persian Idea Gallery in Tehran on Saturday.

The ceremony was attended by Busi, Nero, and a number of Iranian and foreign guests.

Moreover, an exhibition of photos by Nero entitled “Cuba” opened at the gallery on Saturday.

The exhibit will be running until May 31 at the gallery located at 28 Azar Alley, Kolahduz St., Shariati Ave.
