TEHRAN – The Secretary General of World Assyrian Union, Yonathan Betkolia, said on Monday that Christians enjoy full security and tranquility in Iran, especially in Urmia, stressing that the city is eligible to be the capital of all religions.

According to IRNA, Betkolia said strengthening unity among ethnicities and religions should not be just in theory, rather it should be in practice.

“It should not be allowed that a number of extremists show a tainted image of religion,” he said, adding, “Christians are ready to interact with different religions’ followers in Iran, especially in Urmia city.”
