Female Iranian, Syrian MPs discuss ways to empower women

TEHRAN – Female Iranian and Syrian lawmakers held a meeting on Sunday underlining the need to promote parliamentary cooperation to empower women.

During the meeting, Fatemeh Zolqadr, the deputy chief of women’s faction in the Iranian parliament, said by using capacities of Iran and Syria, the two countries can promote the status of women, IRNA reported.

She further called for the active role of Iranian and Syrian parliaments in empowering women

Georgina Rizk and Mari al-Bitar, two female members of Syrian parliament, for their parts, expressed the hope for the promotion of women’s status in Iran and Syria through mutual cooperation.
