Iranian-American becomes U.S. assistant commerce secretary

TEHRAN – An Iranian-American lawyer on Tuesday sworn in as U.S. assistant secretary of commerce for industry and analysis affairs.

On March 19, the U.S. Senate agreed to appoint Nazak Nikakhtar as the assistant secretary of commerce for industry and analysis affairs.

For over a decade, Nikakhtar has successfully represented U.S. industries – industrial, agricultural, chemical, and steel sectors – in international trade law matters, including trade remedy matters, customs matters, and World Trade Organization dispute settlement.

Nikakhtar also served as an adjunct law professor at Georgetown University Law Center.
