MOGADISHU -- Gunmen in the Somali capital have shot and killed popular comedian Nur Osman Jeyte, relatives said Wednesday. Jeyte, whose comical performances were loved especially by children here, was gunned down at a roadblock in north Mogadishu on Tuesday. His murder is said to have been a revenge attack following a recent murder by one of his clansmen, the relatives added.
The Doctor Ismail Juma'le Human Rights Organization (DIJHRO) condemned the killing, describing it as an "assassination of an artist and a peace activist". Religious leaders and journalists here also condemned Jeyte's murder. (AFP)
