Iran Ranks Second in Oil Production in OPEC

ROME The Italian Oil Consortium announced here Wednesday that Iran was the second biggest oil producer in OPEC in the first quarter of 2000.
An official of the Italian Oil Syndicate told IRNA that Iran's average production stood at 3.52 million barrels per day (bpd) in the period, which is 6.4 percent more than that of the corresponding period last year.
Iran raised its production by 130,000 bpd in the fourth month topping 3.560 million bpd.
Saudi Arabia posting an average 7.570 million bpd, was the largest OPEC producer during the first quarter of 2000, the official added.
He also said that OPEC produced an average of 26.620 million bpd in the first quarter of the year, which is 4.2 percent lower than in the same period last year.
The total OPEC crude production was registered at 27.850 million bpd in the fourth month of the year.
