Shamkhani to Brief Parliament on Auditing

TEHRAN Defense Minister Ali Shamkhani will attend a Majlis session for some explanations regarding his ministry's performance. Shamkhani is to explain his reasons for refusing to provide the Economic Ministry with necessary explanation on the nature of expenditures in his portfolio. According to law the Ministry of Economic Affairs is entitled to audit the accounts of other government offices.
When an auditing team contacted Shamkhani to audit the accounts of his ministry, he declined to allow them to do so, one informed sources said, adding, hence the Parliament has decided to ask him the reasons. Auditing is a normal procedure, he said adding there is nothing wrong in auditing the accounts of the ministries.
The Majlis inquiry will clear the slate. If Shamkhani has a genuine reason for stopping the auditing team, he will convince the Parliament, else he must immediately allow the auditing to carry out.
