TEHRAN The project for construction of Mina Tower in Heravi Gardens was stopped with the decision of the Article 5 Commission following complaints by residents to the City Council and correspondence with the Cultural Heritage Organization.
Head of the City Council and the official in charge of following up the project, Mohammad Ebrahim Asgharzadeh, told reporters that, from his point of view, the case of Heravi Gardens has not yet ended, but the ratification of Article 5 Commission is counted as a victory for the people of Tehran and residents of Mobarakabad. Asgharzadeh said all licenses issued after ratification of the High Council of Urbanization should be reconsidered.
He said all 120 towers, whose license for construction has been issued after the ban by the High Council of Urbanization, should be reconsidered. Member of the City Council said investors and capital engaged in construction of the tower are not inspired by humanitarian incentives because those who suffer from lack of housing facilities live in southern Tehran and cannot afford to live in the towers.
Sidelines: * Abbas Jadidi, the national team wrestler, was present at the session of the City Council demanding help for construction of a gym south of the city.
* In the Monday session of the City Council, only 10 out of 15 members were present.
