Iran declares three-day mourning amid martyrdom of 100+ security forces, civilians
TEHRAN – Iran has announced a three-day period of public mourning, from Monday till Wednesday, commemorating the sacrifices of individuals across the country who were martyred defending the nation against armed terrorists and rioters.
President Masoud Pezeshkian’s administration acknowledged the significant violence experienced during the riots in a statement on Monday announcing the 3-day mourning.
“The terrorists violently attacked the nation, massacred its citizens, security forces, and law enforcement officers, and martyred countless precious individuals,” the statement read.
It also noted that this level of violence has been unprecedented “except in the ISIS agents trained by the U.S.”
Iranian officials have reiterated they blame the U.S. and Israel for the terror attacks and armed riots, separating the deadly attacks from peaceful protests by civilians and shipowners.
According to official tolls, over a hundred security officers, IRGC forces, “Basij” volunteers, and civilians have been martyred during the recent terrorist attacks and riots across Iran.
To commemorate this occasion and honor the sacrifices of the martyrs, Iranians attended a “national resistance rally” on Monday, with several officials, political parties, and institutions encouraging the people to attend.
Additionally, myriads of memorial ceremonies for martyred security officers and civilians have been held across the country.
