NIDC brings 12 new gas wells online
TEHRAN – The National Iranian Drilling Company (NIDC) has brought 12 new gas wells into production under a drilling contract with the Central Iranian Oil Fields Company, strengthening gas supply, particularly during the winter season, the NIDC head of said.
Morteza Fouladi said the wells are part of a 32-well gas drilling contract signed in 2022 and launched in 2023. So far, 12 wells have been drilled, completed and put into operation, playing a significant role in meeting domestic gas demand in colder months.
He said the contract covers drilling, workover and completion operations across the operating areas of the Central Iranian Oil Fields Company, with eight drilling rigs deployed across seven gas fields in northeastern, southwestern and southern Iran.
Fouladi said drilling is currently under way on eight wells, at least two of which are expected to be completed by the end of the year (late March).
He added that in the Tous and Khangiran gas fields in Khorasan Razavi province, four wells were planned using rigs 68 and 91. Two wells were completed with rig 68, which has since been moved to the Danan oil field in Ilam province. Rig 91, after completing one well, is drilling a fourth well in the area, scheduled for completion before year-end.
In the Baba Ghir field in Kermanshah province, one well was drilled and completed using rig 54, which has been transferred to the Mokhtar field in Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad province, where drilling operations are now under way.
