Leader thanks Iranian people for ‘great deed’ at Bahman 22 rallies
TEHRAN – Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei has thanked the Iranian nation for their massive participation in Wednesday’s 22nd of Bahman rallies, stating that the huge crowds have left enemies who hoped for Iran’s surrender “disappointed” and in despair.
In a televised message released following the 47th anniversary of the Islamic Revolution, the Leader said the people had performed a “great deed” that held Iran’s head high.
“You supported the Islamic Republic as always and added to its power,” Ayatollah Khamenei told the nation. “The enemies who, in their statements and planning, sought the surrender of the Iranian nation, have been left disappointed.”
Tens of millions of people filled the streets across the country on Wednesday. From Tehran to over 1,400 cities, towns, and villages, vast crowds gathered despite forecasts of rain and snow. It was recorded as one of the largest nationwide turnouts in recent years.
The 2026 anniversary carried specific weight as it followed the 12-day war in June 2025. During that conflict, Israel, backed by the United States, launched attacks against Iranian soil. The war ended not with Iranian capitulation, but at the entreaties of the aggressors themselves.
Following the military failure, Western powers shifted to a “no war, no peace” strategy. This aimed to obstruct Iran’s progress through activated sanctions mechanisms, economic pressure, and a heavy media war designed to demoralize the public.
Tensions escalated further in January 2026, when agents linked to the Israeli Mossad and US CIA carried out armed terrorist attacks and anti-human Takfiri violence. Although segments of the Iranian public hold legitimate economic grievances, the population quickly distanced itself from violent rioters once the foreign hand behind the unrest became clear.
In his message, Ayatollah Khamenei emphasized that the rallies neutralized these threats. He called the national cohesion displayed on Wednesday “priceless.”
“It is highly valuable when a nation takes to the streets to repeat a single voice, a single slogan, and a single demand, practically showing that they are present on the scene and flaunting their identity and character in the face of their enemies,” the Leader stated.
He added that this movement was achieved by divine success and would result in greater dignity, authority, and “more complete independence” for the country.
The Leader concluded his message by offering greetings to every individual who participated in the “huge, multi-million-strong” gathering.
