PHILADELPHIA The Philadelphia 76ers rolled to their 10th straight win and remained the NBA's lone unbeaten team with a 114-90 rout of the Boston Celtics on Monday.
Allen Iverson had 26 points, eight assists and five steals and Theo Ratliff scored 21 for the Sixers, who are on their longest winning streak since a 12-game run in 1990.
"It's only 10 games, but I think it is important to stockpile these wins," Sixers Coach Larry Brown said.
"You take them when you can get them because we ran into injuries last year, and that could happen just as easily this year." The Philadelphia defense forced 25 turnovers, which the Sixers converted into 35 points.
The Celtics' 1-2 punch of Antoine Walker and Paul Pierce were held to a combined 22 points on 9-of-33 shooting. Walker had 13 points and Pierce added nine only three after the first quarter. The duo entered the game averaging a combined 45 points per contest.
"They're the best team in the NBA and they play with great intensity," Pierce said.
"We didn't match it, we got blown away. We played very sloppy basketball." "The Philadelphia 76ers made us look bad tonight with great basketball," Celtics Coach Rick Pitino said. "From the passing standpoint to every phase of the game, they played terrific and that's why they're 10-0. We played our poorest game of the season, unfortunately." (Reuter)
