Germany Moves to Ban Neo-Nazi Party

BERLIN Germany has formally asked the Constitutional Court, the country's highest tribunal, to ban the far-right NPD Party, a spokeswoman said Wednesday.
The court received a 90-page dossier on the party compiled by the country's interior intelligence service alleging that the NPD had "an aggressive and combative attitude" to the country's Constitution and legal system.
A dozen or so boxes of documents relating to the case were sent to the court in the Western German town of Karlsruhe.
The move had been expected. The government announced more than a week ago that it was to seek the ban on the Neo-Nazi Party which it says fosters racial violence, AFP said.
