Haqiqatjoo Emphasizes Restoration of Women's Rights
Speaking at a meeting with a group of women in Ardebil Province, Haqiqatjoo underlined that collective steps have been taken in the Majlis for the restoration of women's rights in the past few years.
She stressed that in order to promote women's job status, women should be named cabinet ministers and given other key positions in the next administration, adding that there have been several discussions in this connection.
Haqiqatjoo noted that what was done by the Sixth Majlis in regard to women's rights is very laudable, adding that however, more measures are needed.
As for the monitoring law, she said that a comprehensive report about the violation of women's rights is currently being prepared.
She emphasized that Islam is a religion which promotes the growth of mankind, adding that in the verses of the holy Qoran, virtue and justice are the only criteria for discriminating between people.
The Majlis representative concluded that there is no discrimination between man and woman in Islam, adding that this is a tenet of the faith and that any idea which opposes it should be confronted.
