TEHRAN Tehran deputy in Majlis, Davoud Soleimani, on Saturday called on the Judiciary officials to expedite the case against plainclothesmen who were involved in the Tehran University dormitory incident in July 1999.

Speaking at a press conference he said that plainclothesmen are the main and controversial aspect of the tragic dorm event.

Soleimani also said that the lapse of two years leaves no excuse for the Judiciary not to name the plainclothesmen, who had played a key role in the event.

The violent and unprecedented behavior toward academics in the dorm incident left a destructive psychological impact on the students destroying their spirit, he added.

However, Soleimani said that the awareness of the students was among positive points of the incident.

He added that given the importance of the dorm case and its national nature, it was expected that the Judiciary will deal with the case in a more desirable manner, but unfortunately, the issues were not investigated well due to separation of the file into different parts and diversity of the courts dealing with the case.
