Iran Futsal Team Takes First Step Firmly

TEHRAN The powerful Iranian indoor soccer team playing Palestinian national side in the inauguration match of 3rd Asian Futsal Championship on Saturday, took the first step firmly.

In the clash that was held in 12,000-seater gym of Azadi Sports Complex, Tehran, the futsal players of Iran found the Palestinian net 16 times to help their side trounce the rival 16-4.

The own goal of Palestinian Jamal al-Holi put Iran ahead while Vahid Shamsaei scored three goals, Hamid Shandizi three goals, Reza Heidarian two goals, Mohammad Hashemzadeh two goals, Ali Sanei one goal, Simak Dadashi one goal, Kazem Mohammadi one goal, and Ahmad Pari-Azar one goal.

The five regular players of Iran were Amir Farrashi, Hamid Shandizi, Mojtaba Moini, Mohammad Hashemzadeh, and Reza Heidarian (captain).

In the second match of 3rd Asian Futsal Championship held yesterday, the national team of Taiwan defeated the Singaporean side.

The Group A-bound derby was held in the 12,000-seater gymnasium and Taiwan managed to win Singapore 7-3.

A number of 14 teams are competing in the Asian event, which will end July 20, IRNA reported.
